About Fallon

Fallon is very fortunate that Karate comes naturally to her - though formal training in ballet, tap and modern dance from the age of two and a half has probably helped!

Her stamina and fitness levels are very high and, combined with a photographic memory, she has been able to progress to a high standard in an unusually short time.

Karate is as much about the mind as the body. In this aspect Fallon is as sharp as a razor. Her tactical skills enable her to frequently win against much older and more experienced opponents.

In all of her endeavours, apart from singing, Fallon has always shown ability above her age group. [as a former record producer, dad is qualified to say she can't sing - she is finally coming round to agree!! ]. Fallon was 3 years old before she spoke. During her first and only visit to a speech therapist she chose to speak for the first time, but in fluent French. In many ways that sums Fallon up - she observes and absorbs all around her quietly and without fuss.

Whilst Karate is Fallon's main focus she is also exceptionally talented in ballet, tap & modern dance, street dance, jive, ceroc and salsa. In her formal exams she achieves distinctions which is not easy considering the strict standards demanded. At one stage we visited and considered applying for a place at the Royal Academy of Dance in London, however, when the Karate bug hit it proved impossible to pursue both activities fully.

Until the arrival of her brother 4 years ago, Fallon had been the youngest of 4 siblings, the oldest of whom is 24. It may explain her competitive spirit! We have many nick-names for her, one of which is 'tidy-mouse' - in absolute silence she is liable to sneak into a room and tidy everything perfectly. Clutter and disorganisation play havoc on her mind, but having siblings the opposite in nature she is kept from being too obsessive! When Fallon organises a room items end up arranged perfectly according to height, or size, or colour. It is in this attention to detail that the requirements to perfect a Kata live.

As parents we don't push Fallon, only support her. Fallon is a normal kid with a well balanced life - we can't emphasis enough that when she takes a hard knock in the Dojo or on the competition circuit she picks herself up and moves on. The emotions of defeats are handled the same way as triumphs - the moment passes and is quickly forgotten, as they should be like good and bad places on a long journey.

Knowing Fallon we can see why she is so good at Karate. We have to remind ourselves that she only started four years ago, later in life than many of her contemporaries. When we think of the future it's exciting to think of European and World Championships, and maybe even the Olympics, but what would make us most proud is to see her become a wise, rounded teacher. We hope she will pass on what she learns in the next 20 years from her instructors to the next generation.

Ultimately, Karate is a way of life with a competition element, and Fallon has the right mind to travel its path to near perfection, if she is destined to do so.
